Switching Gears, Switching Channels

In case you haven't noticed, things have been pretty quiet with this blog.

Over this last month, I have been giving it a lot of thought on how I want to move forward and one of those choices is to drop making gameplay videos in pursuit of my truly, honest passion, cars. To be more specific, real vehicles in the real world.

Around the same time I stopped writing here, uploading videos to my YouTube channel also came to a halt. Now, it's not I am not playing automotive themed games, I just don't want to make videos of the gameplay anymore, mostly driven (get it?) by the lack of views they are generating. I know I am very much responsible for killing my own channel with rebranding it as The Driveteer, switching genres and content over the past few years, so that channel will be abandoned, maybe looked at again sometime in the future.

As you might have also noticed the video at the top of this page, I do have another YouTube channel. That one was started around 3 years ago (okay, 3 years this August) and has only a few videos posted. That was my first "grand experiment" to be abandoned, but I always held onto the idea I couldn't achieve then that I want to do now. The downside will be a real slow down in content creation.

Gameplay videos are relatively easy to make, start a game, load of some capture software, plug in a microphone for better sound, lights, camera and action. From start to finish, an hour or two for editing and minor corrections to the raw footage, a few more hours to finish the uploading process (all dependent on the time of day and internet connection strength).

Filming real life vehicles will be a longer progress, something I was experimenting on the original channel. However, the view count on those showed a lot more promise than my gameplay videos and was a big factor in pursuing the return to  "true passion" of what I really want to do.

Sound confusing? Reading through what I have written is even confusing me!

Let me simplify it all with these two videos....

The Crew 2 Second Anniversary, Part 3

The final round of the Second Anniversary Summit in The Crew 2. This time, I take on the Mississippi with the Proto Offshore Mk1, perform stunts in the sky above Amarillo in a Zivko Edge 540 V3 and attempt an aerial course around Black Mount in the Harmon Rocket HR III.
